The 20th annual Winter Trails Day experienced a very strong turnout at many locations this past weekend. With good snow conditions in many areas of the country and a greater consumer interest in low impact exercise, final numbers are expected to reach the 10,000 mark.
With the exception of bitter cold in the Mid-West and pockets of low snow in the New England and Mid-Atlantic area, many same event attendance numbers are consistent with the 2 year average with some trending sharply higher.
“Winter Trails is a perfect opportunity to introduce new people to the joys of snow sports,” stated Reese Brown, Winter Trails Administrator. “Trying something new is always challenging, but Winter Trails allows people to try snowshoeing and cross country skiing with friends and family, all for free.”
Final numbers are still being tallied, but it appears the program received positive gains over the previous years. Winter Trails continues to fill a need of enticing families and individuals to try snow sports.
