Buck got his first taste of this wonderful industry in Manchester, NH. After finishing school at UNCW in 1990, he took a job at Southern NH University. Since he had been surfing his entire life, it only made sense for him to take up snowboarding. Buck quickly became very passionate about riding. After his first winter of working at a shop, Buck realized how much he enjoyed retail. He initially fell in love with getting people just fully stoked on snowboarding, so he quit his “day” job and jumped head first into the world of retail. Buck worked for 50/50 Snow and Skate, Snowboard Jones, and then wrapped up his tenure in retail by managing Pioneers Board Shop in No. Hampton, NH.
In 2001, Burton was looking for some new energy in the Southeast. The Burton crew knew that Buck had ties to the South, and that Buck and his wife were looking for a change. Clark Gundlach took a chance on pulling a kid out of retail, and Burton handed him the ball….and I quickly ran with it!!
“We have had a lot of success in the Southeast because I have a wonderful staff. They make me look good, they do an amazing job, and they all know what goes into being a good rep because I have pulled each one of them out of retail. This wonderful award is a true reflection of the awesome team that I have working with me, and they certainly help me manage the chaos.
