Freestyle, founded in 1983, is a family owned full service ski and snowboard specialty retailer. Freestyle has two stores focused on Wintersport clothing and equipment located in Charlottesville, VA and at Wintergreen Resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition, Freestyle also operates an online retail store at In the warmer months Freestyle focuses their business on competition swim, skateboarding and summer lifestyle apparel.

Freestyle is owned and operated by Sepp and Measi Kober who both began working there during the mid 1990’s, prior to purchasing the company in 2000. Sepp’s love and passion for the sport of skiing was passed on to him through his late father Sepp Kober Sr. His father is regarded as the Father of Southern Skiing and is honored for this as a member of the National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. Sepp Jr. began skiing at the young age of 15 months honing his skills to later race competitively, instruct skiing and coach racing. From growing up on skis it was natural that he would become a retail purveyor introducing many to the sport he loves.

Over the 32 year history of Freestyle and the last 15 years of the Kobers’ leadership, Freestyle has focused its’ efforts on providing the finest products and quality service that are unrivaled. Freestyle carries a wide selection of equipment and clothing to meet the needs of first time purchasers or accomplished skiers and competitors. Custom Boot Fitting along with high end ski & snowboard tuning are the capabilities Freestyle takes pride in. From stance alignments to custom race grinds, they have the knowledge, expertise, specialty tooling and machinery to make everyone more comfortable and improve their performance while on snow.

Freestyle’s success has been built on their commitment to the products and services and the capable shoulders of it’s’ staff. The highly skilled staff is comprised of enthusiasts who ski, snowboard, skate and ride themselves. They bring their personal passion to play when helping customers find the most appropriate equipment and apparel. The key in all of this is the time spent with each individual customer. Their goals are discussed; options presented and needs met personally and professionally across all seasons.
