John Esterbrook

Being a young avid skier and competitor I quickly realized I needed to get a part time job at the local ski shop to support my passion. I worked part-time for McCoy’s Sport Shop in Newburgh, NY. While working at McCoy’s, David Barnard approached me to go to work for Garcia’s Eastern Rep Agency, Beck Goodwin. Garcia imported Fischer, Marker, Uvex, Rossignol, and Allsop products and later purchased the Lange Ski Boot Company. I worked in managerial positions for Beck Goodwin and later with Spalding Ski Products.

With two partners, Don Sherris and Al Weber, I started and managed Total Sports Ltd for over 10 years. Total Sports was the import company for Dachstein Ski Boots and Kneissl Skis.

I joined Atomic in 1997 as an independent sales rep for the Intermountain territory, Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. In 2001 I relocated back to Atomic’s New Hampshire headquarters.

This experience provided the opportunity to meet and work with many individuals in the U.S. and Austria. They shared the same values and passion for the sport of skiing. The relationships that were developed over the years prepared me with valuable hands-on learning experiences, but most importantly, great memories.

The ski business is unique and can be challenging, but it is the people in this business that make it all worthwhile. I like to thank everyone; my retail business partners, business associates and friends. “So far it’s been a great ride!”

John currently represents Atomic — Alpine, Nordic and Snowboard products, Hestra Gloves, Sun Valley Ski Tools, and Carrera Helmets and Goggles.
