Phil MacMillan

As a hockey player growing up it took me until I was out of high school to realize that snowboarding was where my passion lies. I started working at Sporting Life, Sherway Gardens and they asked me if I would be interested in learning about snowboard products. Thanks to Paul Luckett for introducing me to the sport of snowboarding and the business that I have worked in for the past 14 years.

After close to 4 years at the Life, I decided to move to Whistler in October 1999 to improve my riding and get a better understanding of the industry. I worked for the Mountain and I sold ski and snowboard equipment for Can Ski North/Showcase, where I was introduced to Kenny Mac. Before I moved to Whistler, I heard that Salomon Snowboards was looking to hire a SPORT Rep for Ontario and at the time Salomon was opening a store in Whistler and thanks to Kenny Mac as he recommended me for the Hardgoods Manager position.

With one season in Whistler, I was hired to work with Salomon Snowboards and Bonfire Snowboarding in Ontario. Thanks to Wayne Best for giving me the opportunity to work with such a great brands!

From 2000 _ 2004, I worked in the Sports Marketing Department driving grassroots events, product demos and retail support while going to Humber College for a two year Marketing course during the summer months. In 2004, Brad Steward, the founder of Bonfire Snowboarding and a legend in the Snowboard Industry, came to Ontario for a retail visit and with the support of Brad, I was promoted into the Territory Manager for Ontario.

When Salomon and Bonfire transitioned into the Amer Sports office, I met with the new Vice President of Salomon Canada and pitched the idea of creating the role of the Brand Manager for Salomon Snowboards and Bonfire Snowboarding in Canada. I worked in this position from September 2006 until January 2010, where I was responsible for the Product Manager and Marketing Manager responsibilities while selling and servicing the account base in Ontario. In 2010, I decided to step down and focus 100% of my energy towards growing my agency _ I’M Mac Sales

I’M Mac Sales started with two lines: Salomon Snowboards and Bonfire Snowboarding. Since January 2009, I have added three additional lines: Spy Optic, Comune and Herschel Supply. With these new additions, I have also added some sales support with One Full Time Employee and Three Sub Reps that help me manage the business in Ontario. As my agency continues to grow I will be looking to add additional lines that complement the strong brand portfolio that we represent.
