Klaus Obermeyer founded Obermeyer in 1947, when he was among the first ski instructors on Aspen Mountain. Back then, clothing was at best cumbersome and restrictive. Klaus’ determination to keep the earliest waves of recreational skiers warm and dry, and in class, gave birth to a score of industry firsts _ including the down parka, the duo construction ski boot, the turtleneck sweater and high altitude sunscreen.
Klaus founded Sport Obermeyer on the principle that if you bring together an active outdoor group of people who are committed and creative individually, listen to them and encourage them to be active everyday anything is possible.
Today Obermeyer clothing is engineered to meet the harsh demands of winter. Their leading-edge performance clothing is designed to increase comfort. No matter what activity draws you outdoors, Obermeyer garments take you there. They design, test and work in the environment where their products are used_ the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Sport Obermeyer designs products with an understanding of how weather works, how garments function under rigorous conditions, and what it takes to be prepared.
