I was teaching and coaching at a ski resort, and working as an area rep for a ski and boot company. I was offered the sales position with this company(the previous rep was promoted to sales manager), and I have been doing it ever since. I currently rep Head, Wintersteiger, Toko, Swix, Leki, Uvex and Hotronic.
Being named rep of the year is great because it means that the dealers appreciate the job that you do for them. I have always felt that this business has 3 segments in it, and it has to work for all 3- the dealer, the company, and the rep.
