100 Service Members, Post 9/11 Veterans & Military Families Ski and Ride Free at Sugarbush Resort


Warren, VT (January 9, 2015) — 100 service members, post 9/11 veterans and military families will get together in Warren, Vermont Sunday morning for a day of free skiing and snowboarding at Sugarbush Resort with the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program.

The group will meet in the Sleeper Room of Gate House Lodge at Lincoln Peak by 8:30 AM to register and receive lift tickets, rentals (including adaptive ski gear) and lesson vouchers, all generously provided by Sugarbush Resort. The participants will attend a speaking program and then hit the slopes around 10AM.

The day of free skiing and snowboarding is part of the Home Base Program’s Adventure Series, designed to help military families from throughout New England come together, enjoy the outdoors, and learn more about support services available through the Home Base Program. The Home Base Program helps post 9/11 veterans and their families heal from the “invisible wounds” of war — post traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury – through clinical care, community education and research.

Time: 8:45 AM – 12:00 PM

*Participants will meet at the Gate House Lodge at Lincoln Peak, Sleeper Room by 8:30AM to register at the Home Base table to receive lift tickets, rentals, and lesson vouchers. All participants will be present for a brief speaking program at 9:00AM. Skiing, snowboarding and group lessons will begin around 10:00AM.
