2012 January Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month Offers Now Posted for Some U.S. Venues

Lakewood, CO (November 21, 2011) — Ski and snowboard areas around the country have started to announce their special learning program offers for Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month in January. More than 300 ski and snowboard areas and more than 600 retailers throughout the U.S. participate in the national initiative that encourages children and adults to learn how to ski and/or snowboard by taking lessons from professional instructors.

January learning offers from participating venues will be posted as they are made available on skiandsnowboardmonth.org. Early announcements include:

Ski New Hampshire’s “free week” which is January 7 14. First timers receive a free lesson, rentals and beginner’s terrain lift ticket by downloading the Ski and Ride Free coupon from the Ski New Hampshire website (skinh.com) and making a reservation at one of the state’s alpine areas participating in the program. A comparable program is available for several cross country areas in New Hampshire.

Ski Maine is coordinating with state ski areas on free Learn to Ski or Snowboard packages that are available on a first come first serve basis. An online registration page will open in late December via the Ski Maine website. On the “DEAL” page listing, an inventory of lessons available and locations will be available. It also will list all ongoing LTS/R packages being offered at individual ski areas. Maine ski areas have partnered with MaineToday Media on a contest that allows a family to register online for a chance to win a family LTS/R package.  All details are available at skimaine.com

Ski Vermont’s $29 “Learn To package” is available at most locations in the state for the month of January (non-holidays). The package includes a lesson, equipment rental, and lift ticket. Beginning December 1, consumers will be able to sign up at participating resorts at skivermont.com.

New York’s Swain is offering 20% off the regular price of $49 for its First Turns Package. It includes a beginner lift ticket (Magic Carpet and Round Top Quad only), rentals, and a lesson during the month of January (except Jan. 14-16). There are no age limitations. The offer may not be combined with other offers. Details are at swain.com.

In Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association is again offering $5 discount coupon for mid-week lesson packages at all of its member resorts. Go to skipa.com.
