686 Opens Its Doors To All Outdoor Athletes and Adventurers Through Its Newest Endeavor, The GLCR Project

Los Angeles, CA: Today 686 Technical Apparel is announcing the launch of the GLCR Project (http://686.com/glcrproject/), a unique opportunity for outdoor and winter adventurers to become integrated into the design process involved in creating the brand’s outerwear and accessories. The GLCR Project is an open invitation to men and women to apply for the rare chance to become wear testers, advocates and be an active a part of a new era in consumer-integrated design for one of the world’s leading independent technical outerwear brands as it continues to evolve in its 24th year.

The goal of 686’s GLCR Project, is to combine the ideas and experiences of passionate, real-world consumers, who relish the experiences and opportunities that come from their outdoor pursuits. While 686 has primarily been known as a snowboard apparel company, the brand has steadily innovated and evolved over the last two decades, and is actively seeking GLCR Project ambassadors from a variety of areas. As the brand begins to create apparel for activities other than snowboarding, 686 is pursuing applicants for The GLCR Project who are active participants in cycling, mountain biking, camping, climbing, angling, mountaineering, trail running, outdoor photography and backcountry skiing and snowboarding.

“We are extremely excited to be building a program that is completely crowd sourced,” said Brent Sandor, Vice President of Marketing at 686. “This open call goes in the face of the traditional ‘top-down’ team approach and provides an opportunity to gain valuable feedback from a wide range of people living the lifestyle that our technical apparel is made for.”

The GLCR Project is an extension of the current 686 GLCR Collection of intelligently designed technical apparel for backcountry exploration. Ambassadors in the GLCR Project will have the opportunity to test new outerwear and performance technologies, as well as receive discounts and apparel from 686. A select few will also be chosen to join the current 686 GLCR professional team, including current Freeride World Tour Champion snowboarder Sammy Luebke, on expeditions throughout the year.

“The core of the GLCR project is exploration. We believe that exploring different points of view fosters unexpected detours which lead to incredible ideas,” explains Mike West, Founder and CEO of 686.

The first collective of The GLCR Project wear testers and ambassadors will be selected in December 2016 and will begin testing 686 designs in the coming seasons.

Anyone who believes that their lifestyle and future adventures make them a good candidate to contribute to the future of outerwear advancements is invited to apply at at http://686.com/glcrproject/.
