$70M DOLLARS ALLOCATED BY U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FOR PRODUCT PURCHASES THAT GET YOUTH ACTIVE; SNOW SPORTS PRODUCTS QUALIFY

McLean, VA (January 28, 2009) — The U.S. Department of Education recently announced the availability of $70 million dollars for the purchase of products, including snow sports, that help activate children and for training on the use of such products. The Carol H. White Physical Education Progress (PEP) grants can be secured by schools and community groups for physical education programs that can include snow sports activities.

The grants were announced on January 15, 2009. The deadline for receiving grant proposals is March 9. Grant winners are announced in September. In the past, the average allocation per grant is $300,000.
