DC Organization Has Played Key Role In Introducing More Than 7,000 To Snow Sports
Washington, DC (August 14, 2012) — On August 18, 2012, the members of Black Ski, Inc. (Black Ski) will celebrate club’s 40th Anniversary. The gala celebration will take place in the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel’s Grand Ballroom. Black Ski is one of the nation’s largest ski and snowboard clubs with more than 700 members.
“We are proud to celebrate the Black Ski legacy and its future,” said Vicki McGill, the club’s president. Many of Black Ski’s members will attend the celebratory event commemorating the vision of the club’s 6 founders – Donny Claytor, Mickey Diggs, Furman Marshall, Lenny Milner, Ray Mott and Jimmy Thorne.
“Our founders had a great vision to serve the Washington, DC community. We are proud of how we have served our community, introducing thousands adults and children to snow sports and other fun, healthy activities.” The evening will feature a cocktail hour, dinner program and dancing. Featured will be a “museum” spotlighting the club’s many achievements throughout its history.
Over its 40 year history, Black Ski Inc. has introduced the sport of skiing to more than 7,000 individuals, offered ski trips to 5 continents and created and sustained a strong youth skier program. Black Ski Inc. is considered one of the nation’s premiere non-profit winter sports organizations. The club has established numerous “best practices” for youth and adult skier development among ski and snowboard clubs. Black Ski Inc. is a both a founding member and the largest club in the National Brotherhood of Skiers, Inc. (NBS).
