American superstar and undisputed Queen of the Alpine Skiing World Cup will join the prestigious ‘Briko dream team’: When Lindsey Vonn, ESPN Female Athlete of the Year and Olympic gold medalist, was given the chance to choose her new helmet provider, the choice was obvious it had to be BRIKO.
Burlington, VA (October 25, 2010) — She is an icon of women’s skiing, a champion capable of winning in all disciplines, a star attracting the media’s attention even when she is away from the ski slopes: Lindsey Vonn is a model for women’s professional alpine skiing. This weekend, the beautiful American champion will embark upon a new adventure in the World Cup “with a head start”, by choosing Briko as the supplier of her helmet. “Being part of the Briko team is going to be really awesome Lindsey said enthusiastically Just looking at the names of those that have been part of Briko’s program so far, you immediately understand that you really become part of the elite of world sport, not only of skiing”.
Briko will supply Lindsey with the Phoenix helmet, a successful racing model with shell in ABS and thermoplastic resins, applying Briko’s BHPTR technology, and then personalized with the blue and silver of her personal sponsor, Red Bull. “It’s not just a matter of prestige (which is nonetheless always good). It’s also because of the technical expertise of a brand that has been a leader in the skiing sector for over 25 years – continued Ms Vonn – and of the safety guarantee that only a brand like Briko can grant. Moreover, the Phoenix helmet has a perfect fit; I immediately felt comfortable”.
The Phoenix helmet the result of the work carried out by the BrikoLab research & development center has proven to be the perfect helmet for Lindsey, capable of combining the highest possible safety standards (it is certified to the European EN 1077 Class A, CSI FISI and, obviously, the American ASTM F: 2040 standards) and the professional needs of an undeniably great champion. “Lindsey Vonn’s athletic talent is apparent:she has won practically everything everywhere, and she is still young underlined Briko’s Chairman, Mr Carlo Boroli -: having such an outstanding athlete in our team means that our products can really boast a high technical value – a value that, also thanks to Lindsey’s suggestions, we will then transfer to our models targeted at the general market, i.e. to anyone wishing to ski safely”.
Lindsey has won three Grand Crystal Globes – three consecutive overall World Cups which she won thanks to 64 podium results and 33 victories: a record which makes her the most successful American female ski racer in history. After starting her career as a speed specialist, over the years she has become increasingly competitive in technical disciplines as well. In 2007 she married former team mate Thomas Vonn. The two now travel the world cup circuit together, with Thomas acting as one of Lindsey’s coaches.
Twenty-six-year old Lindsey was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, but currently lives in Vail, Colorado.
