Annual Forum Aims to Establish Broad Collaboration for Year-Round Mountain Travel
Denver, CO (October 18, 2013) — Today Ralf Garrison, president and CEO of Destimetrics (formerly MTRiP) was joined by David Ingemie, president of SnowSports Industries America (SIA), in announcing that the two organizations have finalized a three year contract to collaboratively produce The Assembly in conjunction with SIA’s annual Snow Show. The Assembly 2014 will be held January 31, 2014 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.
Produced for the first time January 2013, The Assembly was launched as an unprecedented consortium for year-round mountain tourism, and has since gained broad support across all industry sectors. The Assembly is a one day forum open to key stakeholders in the mountain resort industry that share common interests in year-round mountain tourism. The event includes presentations by representatives of ski associations, ski areas, public sector organizations, hotel and lodging entities, and industry research and marketing firms. Invitations are extended to senior management and a select list of affiliates. More than 40 of the industry’s leading businesses have signed on as affiliate partners to The Assembly.
“In many respects, The Assembly can be likened to a Board of Directors meeting for the entire mountain resort industry, and in order to protect the quality and confidentiality of strategic data, this forum is open to a select list of attendees,” says Garrison.
Garrison adds that, based on feedback, The Assembly provided a much-needed collaborative, fact-driven platform, and thereby earned a long-term commitment among partnering organizations to continue to address the challenges and opportunities related to year-round mountain tourism. In 2014, The Assembly will evolve, and expand to a full day, two-part forum that will be both broader and deeper; the morning general sessions will be based on a situation assessment of the current 2013/13 winter season in an executive summary format and will include fact-based projections on key performance indicators looking forward through the next year. The afternoon session will delve deeper into six key trends and breaking issues as identified through an advance survey of attendees. These topics will be given an in-depth analysis with a discussion of plausible solutions.
