Devil’s Thumb Ranch is located 65 miles west of Denver and 15 minutes west of Winter Park off US Hwy 40 and County Road 83. Street address is 3530 County Road 83, Tabernash, CO 80478.

Trail System & Equipment

The Ranch features 100+ Km of groomed track and cross-country ski/snowshoe trails as well as outdoor ice skating rink. Lessons and equipment are available through the Adventure Center, including skijoring harnesses and leashes and chariots for parents who want to trailer toddlers on the ski trails.

Fun for all ages, this season kick-off celebration includes free lessons from the University of Denver Nordic Team, live music from Brethren Fast, the Denver-based and popular Rockabilly band, team sprints, grog & beer garden, cage toss, BBQ, retail specials and prizes. Last day for pre-season discounts on season passes ($180, savings of $60 from regular season price of $240, which goes into effect starting Dec. 13, 2009)

Cost: $12/person (food); $3 beers and grog

VIP Reception for Season Pass Holders

Time: 4 5 pm

Complimentary reception and gift for all season pass holders and VIPs who make Devil’s Thumb Ranch Nordic Center a success through their support (Season Pass purchasers that day are also invited).

Colorado Cross Country Ski & Snowshoe Weekend

Times: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Kick-off the ski & snowshoe season with friends or family! $10 Nordic Buck certificates available at that can be redeemed at Devil’s Thumb Ranch toward trail pass, equipment rental or ski lesson. Offer is limited to one coupon per person, per day and is only good Dec 19-20, 2009. No cash value.

Full Moon Ski, Skate & Snowshoe

Time: 6:30 to 9:30 pm

Don skis, snowshoes or ice skates and enjoy a moonlit evening on the trails. Warm up at the bonfire, roast some marshmallows and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate

Cost: $5 trail pass, $5 rental equipment

23rd Annual Governor’s Cup

All day; first mass start is at 9:30 am

Participate or spectate — this annual event brings skiers of all ages and abilities together for a day of racing, comraderie and fun. $5,000 in total purse money, which is awarded to winners in 5km, 15km, 30 km races. 1 km & 3 km kids races. Includes live music, BBQ and great skiing and snowshoeing throughout the day.
