New Catapult Jump System Makes United States Debut at Esurance ICER AIR
Thrilling Action Sports, Music and Lifestyle Event takes place at McCovey Cove, Next to AT&T Park in San Francisco
San Francisco, CA (October 13, 2008) — Esurance ICER AIR announces previously unreleased details regarding the groundbreaking action sports, music and lifestyle event that will take place at McCovey Cove on Saturday, October 18, 2008, along San Francisco’s famed waterfront and adjacent to AT&T Park.
ICER announces an innovative new jump, never before seen in the United States, for this year’s 2008 big air ski and snowboard contest. For the next evolution of Esurance ICER AIR, skiers and snowboarders will be launched using a catapult system developed in Finland by Soul Productions. The catapult will rocket the athletes down a 120 foot- long track and launch them 30 feet in the air, at distances of up to 70 feet onto a corner, or hip landing. The new structure creates an exciting opportunity for the skiers and snowboarders to showcase their skills and ensures the audience can be close to the action. The catapult system will allow Esurance ICER AIR to return to its urban roots, as it can be set up in almost any environment or cityscape.
“In the true tradition of Esurance ICER AIR, we are continuing to evolve and adapt,” said ICER AIR founder Glen Griffin. “The new catapult jump is something spectators may never have seen before. We are thrilled to be the first ones to bring this kind of innovative jump to the United States and excited about the possibilities for Esurance ICER AIR this year and for the years to come.”
Esurance ICER AIR is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 18, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at McCovey Cove, adjacent to AT&T Park, on the San Francisco Embarcadero waterfront. The event will also feature freestyle motocross, skate, BMX, headliner music acts, interactive exhibits and a beer garden.
This year’s event will feature a bigger and more diverse musical line-up than past events, showcasing a wide range of musical acts and performers including: The Cool Kids, 3OH!3, DJ Spider, and Men Women & Children.
