Capbreton, FRANCE (May 3, 2010) — On the occasion of the two-day seminar of Source European Snowboarding Industry Forum, which nearly gathered 90 international participants in Annecy, France, EuroSIMA organized on Thursday, April 29, the Snowball, annual party for the European snowboard industry.
Many personalities, riders and snowboards lovers got together for a charity party in aid of mountain environmental projects.
It was also the opportunity to give the Snowboard Industry Awards. Organized every year, this award ceremony aims to pay homage to legendary personalities from the European snowboard world and reward the brands which play an active role in the develomement of the snowboard industry. For this fourth edition, 3 prizes were awarded :
The Breakthrough brand of the year given by Source Magazine to reward the activity and the efforts of the brand which had an examplary year in terms of products and brand image develoment in Europe. The winner is the brand Yes snowboards, created by three snowboarders friends David Carrier Porcheron, Romain de Marchi and JP Solberg. Yes was born from the wish to share their passion for snowboard offering an attractive and high-quality product at affordable price.
The Product Innovation of the year given by the professional trade fair Ispo to the best product of the 10/11 season selected by an independent jury among the winners of the Ispo Boardsports Awards, is the Fastplant snowboard developed by the brand K2. Fastplant is a snowboard with a multi-layer bonded bamboo core encased with fiberglass, making the board more eco-friendly, more resistant and improving its stability, reactivity and durability.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is given by the EuroSIMA’s Mountain Division Committee to Henri Nidecker, managing director of the Swiss company Nidecker for his significant contribution in the development of snowboard, its industry and its culture in Europe. Nidecker company, founded in 1887, had only one goal after manufacturing skis: make snowboard grow. Ranked among the leaders in this sector, Nidecker radically changed the boardsports world by its science of materials and its technical progresses.
