SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (July 5, 2017) – George Jedenoff, a legendary Utah ski advocate skied Snowbird Resort today, July 5, 2017, on his 100th birthday. George Jedenoff has been skiing Little Cottonwood Canyon (Alta/Snowbird) every year since 1960 and today Snowbird Resort helped George fulfill a lifelong goal of making turns on his 100th birthday. Snowbird, while not open to the public for winter activities today, groomed a patch of snow for this special occasion.
“I can not thank Ski Utah or Snowbird Resort enough today for allowing me this opportunity,” says George Jedenoff. “Alta and Snowbird have been an important part of my life and to be up here making turns on this momentous occasion is a dream.”
George learned how to ski at Alta when he was 43 years old and claims it was the best decision he has ever made. He is a remarkable man with many life achievements including a large family legacy of winter sport advocates. George, who draws his true happiness from the slopes, has become an inspiration to the Utah ski community since connecting with Ski Utah in 2013. Through the annual ritual of skiing with the Ski Utah crew and producing a video each season, a great friendship has ensued. See below for all five past videos.
“George is the definition of what all skiers aspire to be,” says Nathan Rafferty, CEO/President of Ski Utah. “His never-give-up attitude, commitment to the sport, and love of The Greatest Snow on Earth is why we are thrilled to help celebrate in this major milestone.”
