Portland, OR/USA (January 5, 2012) — Holden is proud to announce its collaboration with Stussy on an active lifestyle streetwear line hitting stores Fall 2012.
The Brief: “What are the perfect items for a one week road trip from the peaks of the Northwest to the sandy shores of Southern California?” The answer: Five items functional enough to keep you warm and dry, yet flexible enough to provide layering options that go from snow to surf and fashionable enough to roll out for a night
on the town. The perfect kit: fun, fashionable, functional and flexible just like the life we lead.
The “Stussy by Holden” collection includes two military-inspired jackets, a packable vest, a CPO field shirt, and a field pant all constructed with eco-friendlier fabrics and updated with tailored fits and technical performance. The collection retains the classic Holden style understated elegance with a clean, bold design and subtle-yet-unique details all while offering timeless quality.
“We thought the partnership was a great fit” says, Fraser Avey, at Stussy. “The companies have a lot in common from our organic and grassroots beginnings to our military-inspired designs. Holden is well known for the quality of their outdoor garments and we thought it would be great to partner for a project together.”
“Stussy is one of very few brands in our industry that you can say is truly iconic, and it’s a pleasure to be working with them on this collection,” says Holden CEO Ben Pruess. “Stussy by Holden is the perfect blend of our snow roots and technical know-how and their legendary surf, skate, street vibe. What better way to help
celebrate Holden’s first sportswear collection then to work with the independent brand that helped write the book on doing it right.”
In correlation with the collection, Holden will choose ten people (three athletes, one filmer, one driver, and five lucky individuals from all walks of media) to embark on an epic journey from the high peaks of Oregon to the sandy shores of Southern California. Embarking in March 2012, the crew will pursue an active, healthy lifestyle
of snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding, fishing, camping, and adventures in city life, all in one week. The roadtrip will be documented by five invited media attendees, specifically chosen from varying walks of life to show a wide perspective.
Additionally, Holden is supporting the collection with an short video by Shelby Menzel that features former-professional-snowboarder Russell Winfield modeling the “Stussy by Holden” collection. The video showcases the line’s integrated technical features and performance in contrasting environments and can be viewed at
The “Stussy by Holden” collection will be shown at Agenda in Long Beach, CA on Jan 5th – 6th, Bread and Butter together with Soto Store in Berlin, Germany on Jan 18th, ISPO in Munich, Germany on Jan 29th – Feb 1st, and SIA in Denver, CO on Jan 26th – Jan 29th.

When Shawn Stussy began selling hand-screened tees along with his surfboards around Laguna Beach more than 25 years ago, he single-handedly redefined what casual fashion looks like, and means. The first to draw inspiration from the then very underground subcultures of skate and surf, and combine them with burgeoning music scenes, a workwear and sportswear aesthetic, Stussy fathered what is now an explosive product category of the apparel market. With flagship stores in New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Milan and London, Stussy remains at the forefront of streetwear culture through consistently pure product, exclusive collaborations and alignments, controlled distribution and a vast worldwide network of cultural creatives that make up the “Stussy tribe.” More infor
