Truckee, CA (December 19, 2008) — The North American Ski Training Center (NASTC) will be running a guided trip to Silverton, March 4-9. This course is ideal for the skier who is bored with resort skiing and lift lines and is looking for bigger adventure. This is a big mountain and powder skiing course for advanced skiers. Located in the heart of the San Juan Mountains, Silverton has some of the steepest and most extreme terrain in the lower 48 states. NASTC will coach course participants on the tactics and skills necessary for skiing the steeps and powder. This course is not for the faint of heart, there is a lot of hiking and skiing involved. Silverton is the antithesis of resort skiing; as one veteran of the NASTC Silverton course puts it, “It’s like skiing was in the seventies, but without the stretch pants.”

Silverton is a no frills mountain, it is a very down to earth skiing experience. The people that work at Silverton Mountain are there because they love to ski and it shows. The town of Silverton at first glance doesn’t seem that different from every other mining town in the West. An afternoon is really all one needs to discover the charm and unique circumstance of this quiet little town. The mountain and the town of Silverton deliver the essence of what being in the mountains and skiing is all about. NASTC captures this essence and creates a memorable experience for their clients.
