March 22, 2016 – Ari Gutman, a physician from Gladwyne, PA, has been named the Ski Ambassador of the Year for the Learn to Ski and Snowboard (Month)/Bring a Friend initiative. Dr. Gutman took his two sons, Jonathan (14) and Matthew (13) to Spring Mountain (PA) for lessons and entered the Bring a Friend Challenge.
Dr. Gutman learned to ski in Vermont and also in Colorado. He joins Cindy Rust, Snowboard Ambassador of the Year as a winner. Rust is a teacher from Post Falls, ID.
The Bring a Friend Challenge rewards those who take the time to encourage others to learn by taking lessons from professional instructors. Gutman won a complete ski/boot/binding set up from Head/Tyrolia and an outfit from The North Face. Rust previously won a hardgoods and soft goods set up from Burton.
Newcomers to skiing and snowboarding also were winners in the #firstdayfaces social media campaign. Both the Bring a Friend Challenge and #firstdayfaces ran from December 1, 2015 to March 13, 2016.
The #firstdayfaces campaign encouraged posting photos of newcomers first day learning to ski or snowboard. WInners included Ali Ace (LSSM Industry Ambassador) who won a $100 gift voucher from skis.com for her photo from Sugar Bowl (CA), Kathie Gonzales, who won a $100 gift voucher from snowboards.com for her photos taken at Jay Peak (VT), Monique Schaffer, who won a pair of gloves from Seirus Innovations for her photo taken at Wild Mountain (MN), Sean Mirus who won Zeal Optics goggles for his photo from Schweitzer Mountain (ID), Lyndsey Shramstad for her photo taken at Giants Ridge (MN), Keith Locco for his photo from Mountain Creek (NJ) and Connor Noseworthy for his photo taken at Wachusett Mountain (MA). All three won prizes from Polarmax.
