Boulder, CO (August 16, 2011) – Powder Magazine has signed the Movement Trust as a key Free Agent in their 2012 Fantasy Draft.
A first-of-a-kind concept in ski reviews, Powder Magazine’s Skier’s Choice Fantasy Draft is an “instant runoff” ski rating system that recreates a band of skiers as they battle to build the ultimate quiver. The unique spotlight of the greatest new equipment for 2011-2012 will appear in their annual September “Gear Guide.”
For the Trust and Movement Skis, the honor is the latest in a string of magazine awards that includes both Backcountry “Editor’s Choice” and Freeskier “Editor’s Pick” laurels.
“To be included in Powder’s Fantasy Draft is an incredible honor for us. It just goes to show that there is incredible interest in the real world marketplace for what Movement Skis has to offer,” said Jonathan Degenhardt, brand manager at Movement Skis.
Powder’s unique formula for the Fantasy Draft mixes professional writers and photographers with passionate life-long ski fanatics. The Draft itself was held following April’s infamous “Powder Week” at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort — an annual alpine testing fest which focuses on three days of skiing, talking about skiing, and then skiing some more.
Each skier in the Draft was tasked with choosing their favorite ski in four categories — powder, all-mountain, park, and dream trip as well as their preferred boot and binding. The twist is that in the “instant-runoff” system, once a piece of gear was chosen, it was off the table for others to select.
“There is no science behind the Fantasy Draft, only the reflection of what a handful of real skiers want,” said Matt Hansen, Powder Magazine senior editor.
The Trust (MSRP: $949.95) rose to the top of the Free Agent category with an aggressive, powerful and unique design.
The Trust is capable of extraordinary performance in all conditions. With a rock solid 108 mm underfoot, the Trust will be available in three lengths for Winter 2011-2012, including 178 cm (140-108-129), 186 cm (141-108-129) and 194 cm (141-108-129).
Movement’s superior reputation for distinctive and dynamic skis derives from their proprietary Control Torsion System (CTS) ski construction technology, which blends torsional stiffness with round longitudinal flex to maximize performance and enjoyment in every snow condition.
Like all Movement Skis, the Trust features pure wood ski core construction, certified sustainable by FSC and PEFC organizations; high molecular weight bases for speed and performance; extra-thick mounting plates and rubber reinforced edges for extreme durability; exclusive high energy laminates and fibers for customized performance; and unique shock absorption technologies for a smooth and perfect ride, every time.
