Boulder, CO (Winter 2012/13) — In the cold world of alpine racing, the two hottest female athletes are sharing their custom look directly from the racecourse to the retail floor. For the 2012 season, Spyder launches two special edition race suits to their collection in honor of Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso.
Vonn’s suit is graphically embellished with a live wire print and already holds an impressive track record. She crossed the finish line with sparks flying to win the first downhill race of the season in Lake Louise earlier this year and continued to win the next three downhill races in a row, all while wearing her signature suit. This high energy, dynamic and directorial design was co-designed with the Olympic medalist and will shine its neon lights on the hill for many seasons to come.
Mancuso also saw success in her custom designed suit this season, as the first American women to land on the podium during the World Cup races in Aspen since 2004. And she did it with a little bit of her home mountain wrapped around her. The sublimated Squaw Valley map is where this racer went from a tiny tot on skies to an Olympic star.
Each design is available in five different styles including a two-piece race suit as requested by the US Ski Team, a GS or downhill option with full time padding, a GS suit with removable padding and a youth-sized suit for little female phenoms.
Constructed of a micro polyester knit bonded to a breathable laminate, each of the suits has versatility and intense performance that racers expect. Additional features include a front stretch zipper, thumb anchor straps, grip elastic at boot top, and anatomically designed contoured fit.
The suits will be available at race retailers in North America and Europe beginning October 2012.
