Wilmington, MA (January 25, 2010) — US Ski Team star and two time world cup overall champion Lindsey Vonn, , wears Uvex helmets, goggles, and sunglasses. Her race helmet prominently features the logo of her sponsor Red Bull. This is fine on the World Cup circuit, but not in Olympic competition.
So Lindsey, in cooperation with Games broadcaster NBC Universal, launched a “Design Lindsey’s helmet” campaign. Hundreds of fans nationwide submitted designs to NBC, which have been reviewed by Vonn. Vonn has selected a winning design from the submissions, and this winning design will be custom painted onto the Uvex helmet worn by Vonn in her five alpine 2010 Olympic competitions..
The winning Olympic helmet design is under wraps, and will be presented for the first time at SIA by Vonn’s official sponsor Uvex, at the Uvex booth on —, 2010. The design finalists are Carolyn McHale of Boulder, Colo., who combined snowflakes with a stars-and-stripes motif; Laddie Lee Whitworth of Pocatello, Idaho, who used a red, white and blue wave design; and Robert Chester of St. Louis with a stylistic gold design.(or other description)
The winning designer will enjoy three days of skiing plus airfare and accommodation in Vail, Colorado. The other two finalists will receive prizes from Vonn’s equipment sponsors Head skis, and Uvex.
