Industry Press Release

Gloversville, NY (February 10, 2009) — On January 19, 2009 World renowned Alpine Alpinist and Marquee Grandoe Athlete Ed Viesturs reached the summit (22,800′) of Aconcagua, the tallest Peak in South America.

When asked what gloves he wore as he reached the Summit of Aconcagua, Ed simply replied – “The Rainier Gloves from Grandoe. They’re extremely warm and comfortable, but the exacting fit and durability factor makes these gloves exceptional. By far they out perform any glove I have ever worn on any expedition.”

Ed Viesturs is the only American High Altitude Climber who has reached the Summit of all fourteen 8,000 meter peaks, all without the use of supplementary oxygen. A feat so few would dare to attempt.

“Utterly amazing is the only way I can describe Ed and his extraordinary strength and athleticism” says Jeff Lee, VP of Sales for Grandoe. “It’s no wonder he ranks among the top 20 athletes of the entire 21st century.”

Grandoe, owner of the most recognized patents (GCS, MC2, Comfort V6, Airflow) in winter sports glove history, has been making gloves for 112 years.

“This exciting new collection was engineered to satisfy the needs of the specialty / core ski dealer who wants to provide their consumer with warm, sleek, and form fitting product that has both attention to detail and price point,” says Jeff Lee, Vice President of Sales for Grandoe. “In these difficult economic times, it’s important to deliver the right product that addresses our retailer’s needs, from all perspectives.”

The Flex Core line will range from $44.99 to $64.99 at retail and will include pop colors, edgy design elements and fresh new fabrications.
