Lakewood, CO (March 25, 2013) — Selected from 17 entries submitted from around the United States, Keith Korchok’s video “Something from Nothing” won the “Why I Love to Ski and Ride” Video Contest, held in conjunction with the Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month/Bring a Friend initiative. This win earned Krochok the Warren Miller Entertainment (WME) Video Award of Excellence.
Korchok’s entry is a personal story about what motivated him and his twin brother to create a neighborhood terrain park in Saltsburg, Penn. so they could enjoy and share their passion for snowboarding. The brothers regularly snowboard at the nearby Seven Springs in Somerset.
Senan Gorman, chief creative guy for North Pole Design, Halley O’Brien, independent videographer and Tom Horrocks, marketing director for SnoCountry judged the “Why I Love to Ski and Ride” Video Contest entries based on how they demonstrated the exhilaration of skiing and snowboarding and inspired others to participate.
Korchok’s prize included a selection of WME videos, a $500 gift certificate from skis.com, a jacket from The North Face and a subscription to Transworld Snowboarding. Korchok’s work will be recognized during the Marketing Awards ceremony on May 2 at the NSAA national conference in Palm Springs, Calif.
Finalists included Dustin Hinde, of Telluride, Colo. for his video “Wish You Were Here” and Jana Rogers of Bend, Ore. for “Jana and Elana.” They each won a jacket from The North Face, a selection of WME videos and a subscription to either SKI or Transworld Snowboarding.
Chip Lunsford of Atlanta, Ga. and Logan Fields of Manhattan Beach, Calif. received Honorable Mentions for their respective videos, “I Have a Dream” and “Freeride.”
All video submissions are available on YouTube.
A special thanks to sponsors Warren Miller Entertainment, The North Face, SKI and Transworld Snowboarding, skis.com and the National Ski Areas Association.
