06-07 US Retailers of the Year

The 06.07 SIA US SnowSports Retailer of the Year Award was presented to 8 retail shops in seven regions across the US. - Mid-Atlantic, Mountain, New England, North Central, Pacific, South Central and South East. The awards presentation was held at the SIA.07 SnowSports Trade Show in Las Vegas, January 23.

The SIA SnowSports Retailer of the Year Award is based upon a shop's contribution to the growth of skiing, its promotional and marketing techniques, and its success in the ski, snowboard, tele, Nordic and/or snowshoe marketplace. The award winners were nominated and selected by suppliers and reps in the snow sports industry.

SIA thanks each of these shops for their commitment to the snow sports industry in 2006. The 07.08 SIA US SnowSports Retailers of the Year will be announced at the SIA.08 SnowSports Trade Show, January 29 – February 1, 2008.

MID-ATLANTIC

Viking Ski Shop* | Chicago, IL **won last year
Viking Ski Shop has been in business since 1966 at its original location, selling ski and snowboard equipment, apparel, accessories and services. Viking Ski Shop operates as a “brick and mortar” store only.

PACIFIC (2 Winners)

Footloose Sports | Mammoth Lakes, CA
Over the course of more than 25 years, Footloose Sports has grown from a box of bootfitting tools into one of the country’s premier service-oriented ski shops.

Porters Sports | Truckee, CA
Porter’s roots go all the way back to 1951 when Warren Porter opened a small clothing store in Tahoe City, CA less than 100 yards from Lake Tahoe.

Since 1958, Peter Glenn has been at the forefront of a growing outdoor sports market. The first Peter Glenn store opened in response to a demand for ski equipment and clothing that was not being met.
