As the country started seeing its first snowfall, SIA staffers took to the road to host a series of media-specific events across the country in conjunction with regional consumer ski & snowboard expos.
The tour started out in October with stops in Denver and Boulder, Colorado, followed by Chicago for the Windy City Ski and Snowboard Expo. Last weekend SIA hosted media at the Snowbomb Festival in San Francisco and is preparing for a media breakfast at the Boston.com Ski & Snowboard Expo. Each event brings regional journalists up-to-speed on the latest in snow sports research, demographics, gear/fashion trends and consumer snow sports events for the 2014/15 season.
At these events journalists hear first-hand from SIA about national and regional participation stats, the SIA Snow Show, and story ideas about snow sports consumer programs. SIA tells the style trend story to journalists by showing examples of product from local shops that reflect the trends Stylesight forecasted the previous year. A specialty retailer ends the presentation explaining the technology in this season’s equipment and giving examples of current top sellers for their region.
