Need some fresh merchandising ideas to kick off the 2014/15 season? SIA’s Winter Sports Merchandising page has a new look and new features that can help!
The new format of the page you know and love gives you a quick look at the Latest Trends I’ve written about in SIA’s monthly newsletter. These articles review different techniques and give real-life visual merchandising examples and testimonials from snow sports and other industries.
Easily browse through the Visual Merchandising Resource Library where I share with you the links and resources that are my go-to for fresh ideas and sourcing materials. With the addition of the Resource Library, our goal continues to evolve by bringing the best elements of successful in-store merchandising to you each and every month. Something as simple as knowing where to find great mannequins will definitely take the legwork out of doing the research when your day is already overbooked with other everyday tasks. We will be adding to this list and please feel free to share some of your great finds!
Now, our series of Merchandising Guides are all in one easy-to-browse location. Each guide is designed to target specific areas of your retail space that require extra special attention, like your cashwrap area, window displays and hardgoods section. I like to draw inspiration and display solutions from not only other specialty retailers but from a variety of retailers – everything from your neighborhood hardware store to NYC’s Fifth Avenue window masterpieces. Because when you are stuck for new ideas, the next great one can come from an unexpected source.
If you’re looking for just a quick look at the best-of examples of visual merchandising, the new Merchandising section links you up to the SIA Pins on Pinterest that are a quick way to review some of my ideas and observations. Pinterest is a great way to drum up creative concepts whether its color inspiration, new ways to repurpose old materials or simply engage in a community minded forum, give the Pinterest page a glance. I love sharing ideas this way and there are so many images to find that are “pinnable” that once you get started it’s sort of addicting!
And I’m keeping up with the perennial favorite Merchandising Mondays to help you start your week with quick tips, like how capitalize on holiday excitement or to ways to use specialized materials like awnings. My camera is always ready to snap unusual or genius displays so I can share them with you every other Monday. I am constantly amazed at the resourcefulness of other folks who do what I do. To have all the Merchandising Monday’s now organized at a glance, you can breeze through them and find what inspires you. These tips are also posted to SIA’s Facebook and Twitter.
We hope the new and improved SIA Winter Sports Merchandising section will be one you refer to time and time again. Whether you are stuck for a new window display idea or want to see what other shops like yours are doing, this refreshed page has many added features that we hope you will find useful.
