Calling All Designers! 686, SIA and design contest looks for the next big thing

SIA, 686 and are bringing back the RECLAIM Project. During the SIA Snow Show, three hand-picked aspiring outerwear designers from across the country compete to produce an original garment created from existing “Reclaimed” materials– creating something NEW with something OLD, doing MORE with LESS resources. The competition lasts 72 hrs, Jan 26-28.

“We are looking forward to the second installment of the RECLAIM Project at SIA,” says Michael Akira West, president and creative director at 686. “We had a very talented pool of designers enter the contest last year and it made for a full and creative atmosphere. This year, the RECLAIM Project is on the Show floor, so we’re hoping to drive even more traffic and attention to the future talent of our industry.”

This year’s competition space is located in the middle of the Snow Show’s snowboard section in booth #3317, allowing for more interaction with the competitors mentors.The RECLAIM Project winner will be announced on Saturday, January 28 at 5PM during a party celebrating all the designers and their creations. The winning designer receives an internship at 686 and many other incredible prizes.
