SIA’s Summer Snowdown Cools Down Muggy Manhattan with 2013.14 Snow Sports Trends

July 23, 2013

Last week, the snow sports industry brought the cool to the muggy streets of Manhattan during SIA’s (SnowSports Industries America) seventh annual SIA Summer Snowdown. The media-only Snowdown provides New York-based journalists with a glimpse at some of next season’s biggest trends in snow sports gear, fashion and accessories.

Each July, the SIA Summer Snowdown invites top New York City-based journalists from television, magazine, newspaper and online outlets to mix and mingle with SIA Members and experience their latest products. Last week’s Snowdown attracted 74 journalists representing over 90 media outlets including The Today Show, Seventeen, Men’s Health, Maxim, Condé Nast Traveler and The New York Times – a 13% increase in media attendance from the previous year.

“This was Quiksilver and Roxy’s first year participating in the SIA Summer Snowdown. From the caliber and quantity of top-tier media attendance, to the exceptional customer service from the SIA team, the event overall exceeded any kind of expectation we had going into it,” said Kristen Gooding of Quiksilver/Roxy.

“For an emerging U.S. ski producer like RAMP Sports we loved the opportunity to get in front of so many influential eyes in one location,” commented Mike Kilchenstein, Founder & CESnow, RAMP Sports.

Pearson Neal of Fischer Skis gives Mike Doyle of the run-down on their latest KOA technology while Jennifer Tille of Neve Design listens in. Alex Pasquariello, freelancer, gets the DAKINE pitch from Jake Williams and Catherine Donovan.

“With a unique product like ours, it’s really helpful for people to touch and feel our ski boots to see what makes them so special. The quality of the media and their reception to our product was exceptional – we’ll be back next year,” commented Jennifer Hanson, Director of Marketing, Apex Sports Group.
