SIA 2007 Summer Snowdown

EIGHTEEN SIA MEMBER COMPANIES HOST NY MEDIA AT THE SIA SUMMER SNOWDOWN

SIA Summer Snowdown Media Event

The second annual SIA Summer Snowdown took place July 11, 2007, in New York with 18 SIA member companies exhibiting the latest and greatest in winter sports products for the upcoming season. Hosted at the Westside Loft in midtown Manhattan, over fifty journalists from 49 newspapers, magazines and television outlets with a combined circulation of over 50 million, received a hands-on preview of Winter 07/08 product from: 180s, Boa Technology, Bern Unlimited, DaKine, Helly Hansen, K2, Ogio, Orage, Powderhorn, Recco, Ride, Rossignol, Salomon, Sessions, Ski Metrix, Spyder, Tubbs Snowshoes and Uvex.

SIA developed the NY Media Showroom in support of the overall consumer initiative to help move product at the retail level and increase awareness of winter sports products and snow sports in general. General interest consumer magazines traditionally work on their winter issues during the summer months, which made the SIA Summer Snowdown the perfect venue for bringing the “cool factor” to the warm, hazy streets of New York.

Additionally, in keeping with SIA’s continued efforts to be environmentally friendly, the association used the services of OzoCar whose fleet is entirely comprised of hybrid cars which use 70% less fuel than conventional Lincoln Towncars and yellow cabs, to transport journalists to the event.
