US Team Places Second at Alpine World Championships with Five Medals
In Alpine skiing, nobody beats Team Austria. At this year’s FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, though, it was the hard-charging U.S. team that came closest to the perennial winners.

As the 2015 championships came to an end in a blinding snowstorm Sunday, the Austrians, as usual, finished first in the medal count with nine, including gold in four events. The U.S. team, led by gold medal winners Ted Ligety and Mikaela Shiffrin, finished second with five medals in all.
