US Ski Team Member Andrew Newell & 105 Winter Olympians Call For Climate Action
2014 Olympian Andrew Newell, along with 105 fellow Olympians and Protect Our Winters have released a statement calling on world leaders to take action on climate change and to prepare a commitment to a global agreement prior to UN Framework Convention in Paris in 2015.
“Bring a Friend in February” Campaign Encourages Skiers and Snowboarders to Help Newcomers Learn
U.S. Ski Team member Mikaela Shiffrin started skiing in her parents’ driveway, thanks to their encouragement. Team member Julia Mancuso was introduced to skiing by her babysitter. These Olympians, who are competing in the 2014 Winter Games – are just two examples of world-class skiers who were introduced to the sport by a friend, acquaintance or family member – the typical scenario for most of the 13 million people who ski or snowboard.
