San Diego, CA (November 13, 2020): Chaos Headwear, the foremost and a leading innovator of knit and constructed headwear and apparel deepens its strategic partnership with SOS Outreach (SOS), a national non-profit serving more than 4,000 youth each year across 15 locations in 9 states. SOS provides supportive outdoor experiences, consistent adult mentorship, leadership skills and opportunities for underrepresented youth to make a difference in their communities.

No matter what social, societal, or economic barriers exist—SOS believes every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. The non-profit starts with powerful outdoor experiences. Through SOS’ proven 10-year curriculum, the organization empowers kids in our communities to discover their true potential.

“SOS has made a huge impact on my life,” said Mitzi, a North Lake Tahoe Program participant. “It’s my home away from home. I made a little family that I can rely on, as well as many close connections to mentors who I can ask anything from life to school to friendship advice. SOS also gave me the opportunity to do something I probably would never have done coming from a low-income family, no matter how close I lived to a ski resort. I wasn’t just able to experience this new sport, but I was given the chance to continue challenging my skills in snowboarding and create goals to become a better athlete and a better person.”
SOS operates with a 10-year intentional program model that cultivates social and emotional skills to lay the foundation for successful futures. Youth like Mitzi are able to effectively apply the knowledge, values, and attitudes necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. This approach is key in empowering youth to thrive, especially in this uncertain landscape.
